 | 30th Sep 2008 | 3. Farewell to the Neoplan N4016
The Neoplans time on Liverpool streets is coming to an end. This collection will show photos of these buses through time, from their SMART days to their final days out of Green Lane depot.
The Neoplan N4016 was selected by Merseytravel for their SMART bus routes. This service was operated by Merseybus and they were based at Green Lane. After their use on the contract the buses then passed to Merseybus (or MTL North as it was known) for use on the 18A/C services. The takeover of MTL Holdings by Arriva PLC saw very little change, apart from the withdrawal of the 18C. The Neoplans remained strong on the 18A and could sometimes crop up on other Green Lane routes, such as the 12/13, 15 and 27.
The three "Baby" Neoplan N4009s, currently at Bootle, are included here but are not actually withdrawn as of yet, and is unknown if they will be.
